♦ Nieul-sur-l'Autise, the abbey of Eleanor of Aquitaine.


Founded in 1068, the abbey of Saint-Vincent, jewel of Romanesque art, opens its doors for a visit of the soothing monastery. In unhurriedly strolling, enjoy the beautiful church and the only complete Romanesque cloister of the French West ! 



♦ Maillezais, an abbey-cathedral at the heart of the marsh.


Magnificent vestige of a tumultuous past, the abbey of Maillezais dominates the marsh once shaped by the monks. Frome the top of the building, enjoy a spectacular view of the Marais-Poitevin. Kitchen, cellar salt, canteens : let yourself be charmed by the conventual rooms of the favorite abbey of the dukes of Aquitaine. 


♦ The Priory of Grammont.


Founded in the thirteenth century, under the impulse of King Richard the Lion Heart, the priory is one of the best preserved in France. It offers your eyes its chapel and its monastic buildings : the chapter house, the refectory, the kitchen and its serving hatch, as well as the guests' room.
